In 2022, a total of 40 food businesses in Fujairah City have been closed for failing to comply with the health and hygiene regulations set by the municipality.
Fatima Maksah, head of the city’s health control department, said the decision to close the food outlet was due to non-compliance with food safety requirements.
Authorities issued some 685 fines during inspections. The shops were found to have breached health and safety rules, including the cleanliness of equipment, premises and tools used for food preparation.
In addition, expired food items unfit for human consumption were also found there. Some institutions were also fined for engaging in activities not permitted by their licenses.
