UAE: 54% use public networks at work; experts warn of cyber threats – News

According to a survey published by Cisco, more than half (54%) of Emiratis use public networks such as restaurants and airports for work tasks.

The findings show that 55 percent of respondents believe their personal data is at greater risk now than it was 12 months ago, while 63 percent of users primarily use their personal phones for work tasks.

Today, employees can work from anywhere: from home to the office, and using public networks such as restaurants and airports. The research was carried out to understand people’s attitudes towards home cybersecurity and found that a significant number of people in the UAE regularly use their personal devices for work. The most common tasks include sending emails (66%) and making business calls (57%).

The majority of UAE consumers surveyed share one or more connected devices at home. Respondents appear to be concerned about the threat of attack amid a surge in the threat of cyberattacks at all levels around the world, with 73% saying they are concerned about their personal devices being hacked. With the number of connected devices shared in the household increasing, 68% of people have updated their passwords in the past 6 months.
