UAE: Abu Dhabi beaches announced to be closed until 2023 – News

Al Bateen Ladies Beach was temporarily closed for redevelopment on July 4. Authorities announced that the beaches will reopen in the second quarter of 2023.

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) on Monday unveiled plans to redevelop Lady Al Bateen Beach with world-class public amenities to enhance its appeal as an ideal leisure and adventure destination for residents and tourists.

The project is in line with DMT’s vision to increase recreational facilities and improve the quality of life in the emirate. Furthermore, it is in line with the municipal government’s ongoing efforts to further improve the emirate’s infrastructure by providing integrated recreational facilities and high-quality services that promote leisure, social engagement and community development.

The redevelopment of Al Bateen Ladies Beach will span over 36,580 square metres and will feature restaurants, cafes, prayer rooms and a convenience store.

It will also include a 500-meter fitness ring/jogging track, an outdoor/indoor gym, a paddle court, a volleyball court and a swimming pool, shower facilities and changing rooms, providing an unparalleled beach experience for resident ladies and visitors. .

Dr. Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, Acting Director General of Operations at DMT, said: “This project aims to develop the beach into one of the best destinations for ladies in Abu Dhabi city, offering them more privacy for leisure activities.

“Ladies Al Bateen Beach will include facilities to enhance the beach experience for all residents and visitors. We are confident that Ladies Al Bateen Beach will be popular with Abu Dhabi residents and visitors. We hope that the women of Abu Dhabi will have access to world-class beach facilities , while enjoying privacy.”

An integral part of the redevelopment of Ms. Al Bateen Beach includes child-friendly park facilities that include slides, trampolines and swing ropes that meet the highest safety and quality standards.

Al Kaabi added: “As our community grows, we will continue to develop exciting entertainment opportunities to support Abu Dhabi’s exceptional quality of life for years to come.”
