The 7th Crisis and Emergency Management Summit (CEMS) 2023 will bring together industry experts and senior officials from 11 countries to discuss key challenges, trends, risks, strategies and solutions.

The two-day summit themed “Abu Dhabi 2023” will be organized by the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), under the patronage of Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The summit is seen as a global platform to strengthen partnerships, consolidate international cooperation and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of emergency, crisis and disaster management.

Mariam Yaed Al Qubaisi, official spokesperson for CEMS – Abu Dhabi 2023, noted that the summit aims to improve the preparedness of emergency and crisis systems.

“The summit will discuss the future of emergency management in light of increasing threats and risks, and highlight areas where new technologies such as artificial intelligence are integrated to predict risks, disasters and crises to reduce their impact,” she told a media briefing.

Al Qubaisi emphasized that discussions during the summit will seek to unify global efforts and lead to the development and implementation of effective disaster and crisis management strategies and plans.

“With the participation of senior officials and experts from national, regional and global entities involved in security and emergency management, we exchange knowledge and experience to jointly build an enhanced emergency and crisis management system that will benefit us all.”

She emphasized that NCEMA is keen to collaborate with top international experts to address growing challenges and shape the future of crisis and emergency management.

“As seen with the UAE’s success in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, the country has proven to be proactive and resilient in dealing with such outbreaks [crises]has won accolades from many international scientific and crisis management bodies,” Al Qubaisi said.

He highlighted the role played by the UAE leadership in strengthening cooperation and partnerships with countries in emergency and crisis management, as well as promoting the integration of modern technologies and technologies, which have greatly benefited the industry.

More than 20 senior security, emergency and crisis management officials and experts from 11 countries will participate in the event. Top speakers include Loretta Hieber Girardet, Chief Risk Knowledge, Monitoring and Capacity Development Branch, United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR); Dr. Maoxing Wu, Director, BCM Institute; Dr. Christopher Ankersen, Clinical Professor of Global Affairs; James Morris, Principal, Rabdan Academy, Retired Major General Dr. Adnan Alwan, an expert in crisis and emergency management, and others.

The summit will include sessions aimed at contributing globally to shaping the future of the field, including topics such as integrated and integrated approaches to non-traditional management of emergencies and crises, preparedness for unexpected crises, cross-border risks, preparing the next generation, and more The capacity of subject leaders to respond to emergencies and crises, and community partnerships for successful emergency and crisis management, among others.

Al Qubaisi pointed out that the summit will further enhance NCEMA’s performance and ability to deal with emergencies.
