[ad_1]

A drone believed to belong to the UAE targeted an army post in Yemen’s eastern Shabwa province on Monday, local sources and activists reported.

An anonymous source told Araby 21 The UAE’s bombing of government forces has paved the way for Abu Dhabi-loyal militias to extend their control to the international highway linking the southern provinces of Shabwa and Hadramut with the northern provinces of Marib.

The number of casualties in the attack is unknown, including civilians. An airstrike in the UAE has hit a bus, according to local activists. The driver was one of the civilians killed.

Continued attacks on the internationally recognized Yemeni government’s military and security forces have sparked outrage on social media.

The chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council has been charged with treason for his silence on the attack. According to the state news agency, Rashad Al-Alimi has arrived in the UAE for an unofficial working visit, before leaving for Saudi Arabia.

Atak, the administrative center of Shabwa province, was the site of fighting between government forces and UAE-backed militias last week. The fighting ended with militias taking control of the city after dozens of attacks by Emirati aircraft on government forces.
