UAE Advanced Tactical Leadership Program

Recently, a large TLP-like exercise (Tactical Leadership Program) was held at Al Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), from 10 October to 25 November 2022.So-called Advanced Tactical Leadership Course (ATLC) 32nd UAE Hosted by the Air Combat and Missile Air Defense Center at the Air Force Base.

Since 2004, the UAE has organized ATLC exercises within the framework of the Military Cooperation Program with International Cooperation with the Armed Forces.

This helps strengthen operational readiness to engage in combat skills, cooperation and interoperability within bilateral and multilateral frameworks between the UAE and various air forces.

This ATLC No.32 United Arab Emirates There are many similarities to the well-known NATO TLP exercise, involving personnel and/or fighter jets from the United Arab Emirates, Australia, France, Germany, Greece, the United Kingdom, the United States, India, the Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Arabia.

One aspect of the exercise involves developing, training and launching large formations of aircraft for so-called composite air operations (COMAO). Below this, four further categories are identified:

air-to-ground attack
Defensive Counter Air (DCA)
Time Sensitive Targeting (TST)
Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR)

In total, about 45 aircraft and 500 personnel took part. Photos show the participants, including personnel and many interesting aircraft. Participating units:
