UAE: After 3 girls, Sharjah mother gave birth to quadruplet boys-News

[ad_1]

Quadruplets occur only once in every 700,000 pregnancies.

A Sharjah couple is celebrating a rare occasion because they have recently become the parents of a group of quadruplets-all four boys. Quadruplets occur only once in every 700,000 pregnancies.

The Egyptian couple already had three daughters-Habiba, 11 years old; Farah, 6; and Rahma, 4 years old. They hope to have more children, so they choose to perform IVF surgery at the NMC Royal Hospital in Sharjah.

The 33-year-old mother Hiba (renamed) had a high risk of pregnancy, but on July 6, she overcame all difficulties and gave birth to four boys weighing between 1.6 and 2 kg.

A team of approximately 20 doctors and nurses from multiple disciplines assisted in the birth of the quadruplets. Their names were Ahmed, Adam, Mohamed and Malek.

This is Hiba’s fourth C-section because her other three girls also gave birth in the same way.

Dr. Ahmed Elbohoty, a gynecologist and IVF consultant who gave birth through emergency caesarean section, said: “The risk of delivering a baby in the 31st week of pregnancy is very high.” The doctor said that his initial goal was to keep the mother and child in mind when delaying delivery.

Dr. Pooja Agarwal, an expert in neonatology at the hospital, said: “The probability of a quadruplet pregnancy is 1 out of 700,000 cases. The risk of spontaneous abortion before birth is 25%.”

“At the time of delivery, nearly 20 doctors and nurses from multiple disciplines were present to help with the transition. The baby needed mild respiratory support after birth, and two babies developed feeding intolerance,” said Dr. Agarwal.

Michael Brenden Davis, CEO of NMC Healthcare said: “We are very happy to send these little joys home and start their lives. I am very grateful to our excellent team of doctors and nurses. For their hard work and dedication-and thank the parents of these sweet quadruplets for always keeping their trust in us.”

Omar is an excited and grateful father. He said: “I want to thank everyone in the hospital for all the first-rate services provided to my wife. The overall warmth and personal style are amazing. We are very happy, despite the very high birth weight. Low, but the baby’s condition is fine.”
