UAE and Seychelles celebrate 51st anniversary of Arab Commonwealth

Seychelles Foreign Minister Sylvestre Radegonde has hailed the island nation’s good relations with the country for 40 years united arab emirates during a celebration 51st anniversary United Arab Emirates.

The UAE gained independence from the United Kingdom on December 2, 1971, after the rulers of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Fujairah agreed on a federal constitution and united to form the Arab Federation Emirate.

He expressed the government’s gratitude for the UAE’s decision to implement the second phase of the Barbarons housing project, which will comprise a batch of 40 units, noting “the tremendous progress the UAE has made over the past 51 years.”

On his side, the UAE Chargé d’affaires welcomed the relationship between Seychelles and his country, which he said had developed over the years into a strong strategic partnership where the leaders of both countries worked together for the benefit of people of both countries.

He outlined the UAE’s strategic roadmap for the future, saying it “seeks to become” a global capital for investment and economic innovation, where it has undertaken major reforms to prevent financial crime and align with international standards to combat money laundering. “

Al Neyadi added that the UAE’s decision to support women’s literacy is not only within the coalition but also globally, citing the significant financial investments it has made in the field.

He also referred to the recent visit to Seychelles by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nayan and the shared agenda of both leaders on environmental protection and renewable energy.

He reiterated the union’s commitment to continue to cooperate with Seychelles in all areas.

Seychelles and the UAE established relations in 1982, and over the past four decades the Arab state has provided assistance to the West Indian Ocean islands in various areas including health, housing, education and finance.

The UAE also recently provided a grant to build a modern hospital on La Digue, the third most populous island.
