AMMAN, Thursday, 6th July, 2023 (WAFA) — Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), informed UNRWA Commissioner-General Filip Lazzarini yesterday , the UAE will donate $15 million to help the agency cope with the worst of the situation. The urgent needs of Palestine refugees in the Jenin refugee camp.

“The UAE was the first country this week to express its support to UNRWA in the face of the devastation in the Jenin refugee camp. I sincerely thank the UAE for its long-standing solidarity with Palestine refugees. These funds will enable the Agency to Immediately begin recovery and repair work in the camps, including the Agency’s health centers and destroyed or badly damaged houses,” said the UNRWA Commissioner-General.

Israel’s two-day military aggression ended on 4 July with extensive damage to roads, water and electricity networks and other infrastructure. Over the years, the UAE has contributed generously to UNRWA’s work in support of Palestine refugees. In 2002, it gave comprehensive coverage of the rebuilding of the Jenin refugee camp following the previous round of conflict.

“The government and people of the UAE have been long-standing and key supporters of UNRWA and its work with Palestine refugees. I look forward to continuing this partnership and sending the message to refugees that they are not alone,” concluded Lazzarini road.
