DUBAI: The UAE announced 450 new coronavirus cases on Thursday night, bringing the total to 5,825, state-run WAM reported.
The result follows more than 25,000 tests carried out by the Ministry of Health and Prevention over the past few days.
All new patients are in stable condition, the Ministry of Health said. The country’s total death toll stands at 35, with 2 new deaths.
The new cases come as Dubai’s Department of Economic Development steps up efforts to improve delivery of essential goods in the city.
The department has partnered with Dubai Taxi Company, Roads and Transport Authority, Aramex and Carrefour to improve courier services during the high-demand outbreak.
Aramex provided a dedicated courier fleet, while DTC committed to using some taxis to help ensure efficient delivery of goods ordered online by Carrefour shoppers, WAM reported.
Meanwhile, the UAE called on young people to volunteer in the cause of the fight against the virus and spread factual information about COVID-19 on social media.
Dr Farida Al Hosani, the official spokesperson for the country’s health sector, spoke at a virtual event hosted by Sajaya Young Ladies in Sharjah on Wednesday.
