The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has announced the launch of a new transport system linking the UAE and Qatar. The system can exchange information on the traffic violations of drivers from both countries.
At a recent joint security committee meeting between the two countries, officials said the system linking the two countries’ transportation systems has been completed and launched in the GCC Integrated Project.
The move follows several meetings between the two countries’ committees and technical working groups on the selection of networks, requirements for exchanging files and linking services, and piloting systems to enhance smart services.
The Interior Ministry last week announced the launch of a similar project linking the transport systems between the UAE and Bahrain.
According to officials, the new regime is aimed at improving the quality of life in GCC societies.
In talks between UAE officials and Qatari and Bahraini officials, the authorities discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in the police field, as well as the progress of the Traffic Fines Linkage Project in the Gulf Initiative, which aims to link all GCC countries to the technology system Purpose.
The Home Office said earlier that the meeting also discussed activating the statute and joint linking of the penal system.
