UAE: Attendance exceeds 90% as Indian schools start new school year – News

Indian Curriculum schools in the UAE have started the new academic year with several schools recording strong enrollment and attendance. This Monday, thousands of students returned to classrooms to start the new school year.

Indian schools start the new school year in April, while most other curriculum schools start the new term in September. There are approximately 80 Indian Curriculum schools in the UAE, 32 of which are located in Dubai.

Arogya Reddy Principal, Ambassador School Sharjah said, “Our school started very well with an attendance rate of 98%, which is very unusual on the first day of school as many families usually travel and many join later. But due to This Ramadan coincides with the new school year and most of the people are in the UAE. Our students will now be preparing for their final exams, which according to CBSE are called ‘regular exams’ for classes 9, 10, 11 and 12.”

He added: “Admission trends have also improved this year compared to the Covid period, with numbers almost reaching the pre-pandemic period. CBSE has also released a new assessment model for senior students. So we will be working on it . Overall, it’s been a good start to the school year so far.”

At the same time, the school is introducing new academic and co-curricular programs and rolling out activities for new students.

GEMS Millennium School – Al Khail Principal Fatima Martin said: “The 2023-24 school year is a positive start for our school. We thank our staff, students and parents for their efforts in adapting to the challenges and uncertainties of the past year Half the time. As we move forward, we are pleased to have completed all board exams and focus on the education and growth of our enrolled students.”

Schools are also going all out to incorporate “sustainability” into their pedagogy in line with the country’s annual theme.

She added: “As a school committed to delivering high-quality education, we are aware of the importance of sustainable development in today’s world. Therefore, we have incorporated the UAE 2023 theme Sustainability into our curriculum. This includes Focus on sustainable practices “in our daily operations, such as reducing waste, conserving energy and conserving water. We believe that by instilling a sense of environmental responsibility in our students, we can create a better future for them and the planet. “

School principals said Ramadan has special significance in their school community, where they celebrate diversity and inclusion.

“The essence of Ramadan can be seen through many cross-curricular themes and activities, which help our students develop an understanding and appreciation of different cultures and traditions,” Martin said.

Credence High School CEO and Principal Deepika Thapar Singh emphasized: “As the new school year kicks off with a burst of energy and enthusiasm, there is excitement in the hallways. Students, teachers and staff are ready for action – full of learning, A year of growth and fun. The new school promises to be an exciting one, with a wide range of activities and initiatives planned to create a dynamic and engaging learning environment for students.

Orientation events are being held to familiarize students and parents with school policies, procedures, and academic expectations, helping them to settle in and feel part of the school family from the start.

Singh added: “The school’s dedicated teachers have been busy preparing their classrooms and programs to provide students with a first-class education. With a focus on academic excellence, the school has implemented innovative teaching methods and technologies to make learning exciting and relevant .Students look forward to engaging in courses, hands-on activities and collaborative projects that foster critical thinking and creativity.”
