Sheikh Nahyan bin Saif Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), led the UAE delegation at the extraordinary open-ended meeting of the Executive Committee of Permanent Continued attacks on mosques take a unified Islamic stance.

The meeting was held at the headquarters of the Organization’s General Secretariat in Jeddah.

Sheikh Nahyan reiterated that the UAE strongly condemns the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli police, the attack on worshipers and the arrest of multiple people, stressing the need to provide full protection to the Al-Aqsa Mosque and to stop serious and active violations there.

In addition, he stressed the need to respect the guardianship of the Holy Land by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in accordance with international law and the current historical context, without compromising the authority of the Mosque in Jerusalem, which manages Al-Aqsa’s affairs.

Sheikh Nahyan reiterated that the UAE opposes all practices that violate international resolutions and lead to further escalation of the situation in the region.

He stressed that the UAE supports all regional and international efforts to advance the Middle East peace process based on a two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the UN Resolution and the Arab Peace initiative in order to create an appropriate environment for the resumption of serious negotiations leading to a just, comprehensive and lasting peace.

For his part, Hussein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, who reiterated his strong condemnation of all policies and measures aimed at removing the identity of Al-Quds Al-Quds, stressing that it is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and the State of Palestine, the capital of Palestine, The Al-Aqsa Mosque is only for Muslims to worship.

He warned against attempts to change the historical and legal status of Islamic and Christian holy sites in the Holy City, especially the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing that this would lead to further violence and tension and undermine security and stability in the region.

Hissein Brahim Taha stressed that all Israeli decisions and actions aimed at changing the city’s geography and demographics and affecting the historical and legal status of its holy places have no legal basis and are considered invalid under international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
