The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has denied a viral social media post related to the Emirates ID. In a warning issued on Thursday morning, authorities denied information in the post that Gulf citizens could obtain an Emirates ID by paying a fee.

It shared a blurry image of the viral post.

“Requirements need to be met for population registration to obtain Emirates ID,” the ICP said.

According to the regulatory decision issued in this regard, obtaining the card is subject to terms and conditions, which “have not undergone any changes”, the ICP added.

Authorities called on residents to “ignore the aforementioned rumours, and seek correct information from authorities-verified sources and official government sources.”
