Authorities have launched a safety campaign to reduce accidents
Authorities have launched a month-long awareness campaign to reduce beach drownings.
On Saturday, Fujairah Police launched the “Safe Summer Without Drowning” campaign in partnership with the Civil Defence.
Flyers will be provided to those who go to the beach informing them of safety standards and rules when swimming. The flyers will be printed in three languages, English, Hindi and Urdu.
Capt Mohamed Hassan Al Basri, head of media and public relations at Fujairah Police, said the campaign was launched at the start of the summer to prevent drownings at beaches and swimming pools.
Families are being asked to exercise caution when taking their children to the beach.
Beachgoers have also been told they must wear life jackets and not swim in the sea after sunset.
The campaign will target public beaches, resorts and hotels.
