UAE builds three new camps for flood victims in Sudan

UAE is continuing its humanitarian relief efforts Sudan By establishing three new camps in the devastated villages flood in the Nile State.

The UAE Red Crescent Field Team is supporting the Sudanese people in overcoming the harsh conditions caused by flooding that has hit many parts of the country.

They supervise the evacuation and shelter of local residents according to the highest safety and security standards.

A camp of more than 50 tents was established in the village of Al Fahlab.

There is also a camp with more than 75 tents, located in Abu Jesus and one in Al Masid, with a total of 200 tents and can accommodate more than 1,000 people.

Residents of the affected villages welcomed the ERC team, saying the UAE’s aid will help ease their suffering.

Mohammed Al Kaabi, head of the ERC Sudan delegation, told state news agency Wam that the teams were working with Sudanese authorities to mitigate the impact of the humanitarian crisis.

“Humanitarian work continues and the ERC has been assessing the situation,” Mr Al Kaabi said.

The ERC is also overseeing the distribution of humanitarian aid to benefit more than 140,000 displaced people in the hardest-hit provinces.
