The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC) has advised UAE citizens not to travel to Tanzania and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea during this period due to the Marburg virus outbreak in these states.
The ministry said on its official Twitter account on Saturday, “In view of the announcements by the health authorities of the Federal Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea to monitor the outbreak of the ‘Marburg’ virus, and based on the ministry’s concern for the safety of citizens of the countries, the ministry recommends that Postpone travel to the Federal Republic of Tanzania and the Republic of Equatorial Guinea during this period.”
MOFAIC also urged Emirati citizens currently in the country to exercise caution and follow the security instructions issued by the competent authorities.
The Ministry provides a 24/7 emergency phone number (0097180024) for UAE nationals abroad so that they can be contacted in an emergency.
MOFAIC further urges UAE citizens intending to travel or who have already departed to register for the ‘Twajudi’ service via www.mofaic.gov.ae or via the Ministry’s smart app ‘UAEMOFAIC’.
“Twajudi” is a service provided by the Ministry to facilitate communication with UAE nationals abroad, assist them, and coordinate their repatriation in emergency or crisis situations.
