UAE Covid-19 Vaccine: Dubai Announces Third Dose of Pfizer for Some Residents-News

[ad_1]

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced today that it will start the third dose of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine for people with moderate to severely compromised immune systems.

Individuals who fall into the following categories and are at least 12 years old are eligible for the third dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Eligible categories include:

• People with moderate to severely impaired immune systems

• Individuals with active tumors and hematological malignancies or who have recently received the same treatment

• Recipients of solid organ transplantation or patients who have undergone hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT)

• People with severe primary immunodeficiency disease

• Advanced or untreated HIV patients

• Patients receiving active treatment with immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory drugs

This move aims to improve the immunity of certain immunocompromised persons who need additional protection against Covid-19.

DHA stated that, according to the latest international research, individuals who have been fully vaccinated and are not immune to diseases currently do not need to take additional Covid-19. The authority stated that if there are any new developments, an announcement will be issued.

The DHA pointed out that in some cases, even patients with immune-related diseases may not need a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. The Authority recommends that patients first consult with the attending doctors in Dubai government or private hospitals in order to evaluate their cases. If a third dose must be injected, their doctor will make an appointment for them at the same hospital.

Authorities stated that citizens and residents who issued residence visas in Dubai but received treatment outside the city must obtain a certified medical report approved by their attending doctor before they can receive the third dose. In order to confirm whether they are eligible for the third dose, they must make an appointment with a DHA family medicine doctor or call 800 342 to request a telemedicine consultation (Doctor for Every Citizen).
