DHA will administer a third dose of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine to residents with compromised immune systems
UAE doctors said that the third dose of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine will help improve the immunity of vulnerable groups, including immunocompromised patients.
Dr. Adil Sajwani, a family medicine expert at Farge University Hospital, said: “It is clear that Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine has a very good response to the coronavirus, and it is recommended that people with a medical history receive a third dose.”
He added that patients receiving cancer treatment and immunotherapy, as well as patients with low immune responses, have lower immunity to coronavirus, so booster injections may be needed to improve immunity to Covid-19.
The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced that it will start the third dose of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine, Residents with compromised immune systems.
Dr. Vrishali Rohankar, General Practitioner and Medical Director of the Aster Clinic on Sheikh Zayed Road, said: “The third dose of vaccine needs to be used for susceptible people, such as HIV patients, patients undergoing cancer chemotherapy, and recipients of organ or stem cell transplants. “

Rohankar added that compared with normal people, these patients may have reduced immunity and may have weaker protection against the coronavirus. The persistence of the antibody response in their bodies is weakened, and they face the challenge of exposure to new virus variants.
Medicos said that antibody titers will last longer in the general population and people with healthy immune systems.
In order to confirm whether they are eligible for the third dose, residents must make an appointment with a DHA family medicine doctor or call 800 342 to request a telemedicine consultation.
Before approving the third dose of vaccine and antibody titers, a detailed medical evaluation by a DHA doctor is required.
DHA has stated earlier that individuals who have been fully vaccinated and are not immune to disease do not currently need additional vaccinations.
It said that in some cases, even patients with immune-related diseases may not need a third dose.
