Residents of the UAE are expected to spend the next long weekend during Eid al-Fitr in the last week of June.

It will be the longest weekend for UAE residents, possibly lasting six days from Tuesday 27 June to Sunday 2 July, depending on lunar observations.

This month, Eid al-Fitr ushered in the first four-day long holiday of the year.

A large number of expats and citizens travel to different tourist-friendly countries around the world during their long holidays. Among the expat community, Indian and Pakistani nationals make up more than half of the UAE’s population. They are the two largest expat communities, accounting for nearly 36% and 17% of the population, respectively. About 3.5 million Indians and 1.7 million Pakistanis live and work in the UAE.

UAE residents holding Pakistani passports can travel visa-free to 32 countries in Asia, Africa, Oceania and the Caribbean, according to the Henley & Partners Passport Index.

Ranked 105th in 2023, Pakistani passport holders have mostly visa-free access to African countries as well as some popular tourist destinations such as the Maldives and Seychelles.

Meanwhile, Indian citizens can travel visa-free to 60 destinations around the world, including popular destinations such as Thailand, Maldives, Qatar, Oman, Jordan and Sri Lanka. The Indian passport was ranked 81st on the Henley and Partners’ Passport Index, which compared 199 different passports for visa-free access to 227 tourist destinations. The top-ranked Japanese passport is visa-free 193.

As Khaleej Times reported earlier, UAE nationals can travel visa-free or visa-on-arrival to 178 countries, as the UAE passport is one of the most powerful in the world.
