MoHAP says the guidelines given must be followed during the trip

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced on Tuesday that teams of medical experts have been deployed at UAE airports to assist pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia.

In a press release, MoHAP said the teams will provide pilgrims with the healthcare guidelines and instructions they must follow during the Hajj to ensure the health and safety of the pilgrimage.

According to the ministry, the team provides pilgrims with free tests and ensures they receive the required immunizations before leaving the country.

“This is in line with the awareness-raising campaign ‘Your safety is top priority’ for the current Hajj season 2022 on the website and numerous social media channels,” the ministry said.

Health precautions pilgrims must follow while in Saudi Arabia include wearing a mask and using a tissue when coughing or sneezing, and avoiding shaking hands or hugging. Hajj pilgrims must see a doctor if they experience any symptoms such as cough, rash, difficulty breathing or muscle pain.

“By doing so, they can limit the spread of the disease and ensure their own health and safety,” the ministry added.

Officials say devotees from around the world have packed the streets of Islam’s holiest city for the biggest pilgrimage since the coronavirus pandemic began, officials said.

At least 650,000 overseas pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia so far, authorities said on Sunday. An AFP report said 1 million people were allowed to attend this year, including 850,000 from abroad, after two years of sharply reduced numbers due to the pandemic.
