UAE extends national ICV scheme to Fujairah RAK ​​to support local companies

The UAE’s national ICV programme has been expanded to include Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, as part of the country’s efforts to support domestic companies and strengthen local supply chains by shifting government procurement to Emirati businesses.

Witnessed by Dr Sultan Bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Sarah Bint Youssef Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Finance and Ras Al Khaimah. The Ministry of Industry and Economy of Fujairah has joined the National ICV scheme. MoIAT oversees the National ICV Program, which was launched as one of 50-person projects.

By redirecting government procurement in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, the National ICV scheme aims to achieve several goals. These include strengthening value chains, developing new local industries and services, stimulating and attracting investment, diversifying the economy, increasing domestic manufacturing and creating quality jobs.

The two MoUs were signed by Omar Al Suwaidi, Deputy Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, on behalf of MoIAT. Signed by Yousef Ali Mohammed, Financial Secretary, Ras Al Khaimah Government, on behalf of the Ras Al Khaimah Ministry of Finance, Mohammed Obaid Bin Majid Al Alili, Director General, Industry and Economics, Fujairah. Omar Al Suwaidi said: “The plan directs AED 41.4 billion in expenditure to the national economy in 2021. The expansion of the national ICV scheme helps to enhance the competitiveness of local products and services and promote the growth of the industrial sector and its related sectors. His Excellency continued: “The MoUs with the governments of Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah will support cooperation and integration between federal and local government entities. These partnerships further strengthen the national supply chain and support self-sufficiency in priority and strategic industries Self-sufficiency.Today, the program includes more than 45 federal government entities, including ministries, federal entities, and 17 major national corporations.

“The expansion of the national ICV programme supports the goals of the Made in UAE campaign, launched by the ministry to attract investment and promote sustainable industrial development. The event highlights the opportunities the UAE industrial sector offers international investors and showcases The UAE’s competitive advantage. The event supports the adoption of advanced technologies in the industrial sector through the Industry 4.0 programme, which aims to increase the industrial sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP.”

His Excellency explained: “The expansion of the National ICV programme has enhanced the UAE’s business environment. The programme has shown promising results in its early stages, with some major national companies localising their value chains. It has also helped attract industrial investment. , thereby supporting the country’s economic growth.”

Omar Al Suwaidi concluded: “The expansion of the programme provides growth opportunities for companies in various sectors including medical technology, advanced industrial, hydrogen, heavy industry, food and beverage, agritech, pharmaceuticals, electronic equipment, machinery and plant equipment, petrochemicals , chemical products, as well as rubber and plastics.”

Yousef Ali Muhammad Al Balushi, Financial Secretary of the Ras Al Khaimah Government, said: “We are delighted to join the national ICV programme and we look forward to its implementation in Ras Al Khaimah. The programme helps to strengthen the relationship between the country’s industry and services sector. supply chain and support the work of the emirate and Emirati companies, thereby increasing the competitiveness of our country.”
