While everyone is ready to congratulate a new mom after giving birth, few realize what kind of help she desperately needs.

For many UAE expats – most of whom do not have the support of older family members – parenthood can be overwhelming, especially in the first weeks and months of a newborn’s life.

Alka Uttamchandani, general manager of Emirates Home Nursing, said the challenge had created a strong demand for midwives and home nurse services.

“When a mother comes home with a newborn, she looks to her family for warmth, support and care. Mothers raising a newborn alone can be stressful, given that there is a lot of uncertainty about what is right for the newborn It’s huge,” Uttamchandani explained.

In the case of twins and triplets, the weight of responsibility and anxiety can even double or triple.

“As a mother of twins, I am lucky to have my mother’s family here in the UAE to support me through this stressful phase of being a new mother, but there are several new mothers who regret being alone and home care is truly a blessing in disguise, especially for new mothers Or moms of twins/triplets,” says the expert.

With these circumstances in mind, many mothers are now opting for professional home care services, she added.
