The Abu Dhabi Department of Health (DoH) has announced that Abu Dhabi has achieved the highest vaccination rate in the world at nearly 100%.

“Through a vaccination campaign launched in Abu Dhabi, the UAE has achieved the highest vaccination rate in the world at nearly 100%,” the Ministry of Health said on Facebook.

According to the U.S. Department of Health, the emirate of Abu Dhabi has successfully responded and fought the pandemic without a complete lockdown.

This creates a balance between ensuring the health and safety of individuals and the stable continuity of the emirate’s businesses and economy.

The UAE is one of the first countries in the world to launch a Covid-19 vaccination campaign. Abu Dhabi has by far one of the highest vaccination rates in the world.

“One of the best things the pandemic has brought about is a sense of community. People are starting to be more considerate of each other,” the ministry said.

According to a report released by the Abu Dhabi Media Office in the middle of last month, Abu Dhabi was once again ranked as the most resilient city in the world by Deep Knowledge Analytics (DKA) due to its advanced and solid healthcare infrastructure, commitment and leadership. ) is the DeepTech analytics subsidiary of Deep Knowledge Group (DKG) in London.

The recognition reflects the emirate’s comprehensive, efficient and timely response to the Covid-19 pandemic, strengthening Abu Dhabi’s healthcare sector as a leading regional and international model, the report said.

Abu Dhabi was also named the leading city in the global response to Covid-19 in a similar report by the DKA in the first half of 2021. Since then, an additional 28 cities have been examined and added to the ranking, for a total of 100 cities now assessed.

The epidemic-fighting city ranking assesses the ongoing progress of key cities and makes supplementary policy recommendations to correct major deficiencies. The report builds on six parameters the city has been focusing on to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and demonstrate resilience and preparedness for similar public health problems in the future. These parameters are government efficiency, economic resilience, healthcare administration, quarantine measures, vaccination strategies, and cultural compliance.

The emirate has achieved a Covid-19 testing capacity of more than 500,000 tests per day and established 27 drive-through testing and vaccination centres, with nearly 100% of the community vaccinated against Covid-19. In addition, Abu Dhabi has successfully increased healthcare capacity related to the number of hospital beds by 200% and increased the number of intensive care beds by 300%. All of this is supported by agile, data-driven, science-based and world-leading policies and interventions that have resulted in one of the lowest mortality and infection rates per capita globally.

These efforts are in line with Abu Dhabi’s efforts to position itself as a leading healthcare destination leveraging life sciences, innovation, digitalisation and medical tourism. The emirate continues to provide the latest innovative therapies to maintain the health and safety of the community. Ministry of Health signs strategic agreement with major international pharmaceutical companies to provide up-to-date treatment for patients with mild, moderate and critical symptoms and immunocompromised patients who cannot be vaccinated; and to provide preventive treatment to protect all members of the community from Covid- 19 Virus attack.

Abu Dhabi also received the first global shipment of AstraZeneca’s Evusheld, which produces antibodies for immunocompromised patients. In addition, Abu Dhabi and Roche, the world’s largest biotech company, announced a strategic partnership to use the latter’s cascilimab and imdecimab for the prevention and treatment of mild to severe Covid-19 patients. Moderate symptoms.

Globally, Abu Dhabi is leading the global effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic by participating in clinical trials of Covid-19 vaccine and therapeutic innovations and through its contribution to accelerating the pace of vaccine and drug development and distribution effect to the whole world. Abu Dhabi has successfully leveraged its strategic location and advanced healthcare infrastructure to create a unique pharmaceutical corridor, the HOPE Consortium.

The Abu Dhabi-led public-private partnership has helped lead the global effort to combat the Covid-19 pandemic by delivering more than 260 million doses of the vaccine to more than 60 countries around the world. The emirate’s testing capacity for Covid-19 has also been used to assist epidemiological investigations in several countries.
