Cairo: Global technology provider Lenovo plans to strengthen its presence in Saudi Arabia thanks to Vision 2030’s digital agenda to promote technology in all areas.
In an exclusive interview with Arab News, Levono Saudi Arabia General Manager Marwan Bsat said the company is committed to being a technology partner that supports Saudi youth and Vision 2030.
“Our efforts to bring new products and advanced services to the Saudi market will greatly facilitate the continued digitalization of different sectors in Saudi Arabia,” Bsat said.
With the rise of remote work and the pandemic playing a major role in the digitization of the economy, Lenovo aims to provide the right resources to support the implementation of the emerging hybrid work model.
“We will continue to seize the opportunities presented by accelerated digital transformation and hybrid work, while successfully addressing a range of industry challenges,” he added.
According to Bsat, the quality of devices used by mixed-work employees will greatly affect productivity, focus, ability and comfort to work on the go, which can affect employee well-being.
“Eighty-three percent of IT decision makers are actively preparing for a hybrid model, and equipping people with the technology they need is key to increasing productivity,” explains Bsat.
“At Lenovo, we have products, solutions and services that meet the needs of our employees and support the three pillars of enabling a flexible workforce of safety, collaboration and productivity.”
The company is aware of the unpredictable disruption to the industry from the pandemic, but has managed to use the global crisis to its advantage.
“However, our long-term outlook remains positive. Hybrid working models will continue to exist, driving strong and long-term demand for smart devices and IoT infrastructure, as well as smart applications and services,” he said.
Additionally, Bsat added that creating the perfect student environment is one of the company’s goals in supporting the Kingdom’s learning sector, noting that academic success “starts with students learning and the equipment they use to learn.”

Lenovo is providing students with solutions to improve their academic performance through its Smart Learning feature, Bsat explained, “designed to help students get the most out of their at-home learning experience without compromising comfort or privacy.”
“Whether it’s a virtual classroom at home or in the classroom, Lenovo has effective e-learning solutions, including secure laptops, smart tablets and all-in-ones, monitors and accessories,” he added.
Mixing work and education is a well-known factor in empowering young people, but Lenovo has spotted another upward trend to strengthen its position among the Saudi population, the booming esports industry.
Although esports has been around for a while, the pandemic and the accessibility of technological equipment have highlighted the importance of the industry, with teams and tournaments being built with multi-million dollar investments.

As the Cambodian PC market leader with nearly 30% market share, Lenovo aims to provide the right tools to support the gaming industry of all ages.
“Whether it’s young girls, boys, working parents, or even people over 60, we’ve worked with all of these communities over the years to recognize their love of gaming and provide them with a platform to thrive,” Bsat said .

With around 70% of the population under the age of 30, the kingdom can play a major role in global esports as it already has around 20 million active gamers.
“Like any competitive sport, esports helps students develop discipline, teach new skills and build a community of engagement. But more importantly, esports can foster an inclusive community that is largely independent of physical ability, gender, location and other factors,” Bsat said.
The company has been supporting the Kingdom’s esports industry for the past few years by organizing tournaments and tournaments and sponsoring local teams.
“As part of our efforts over the past few years to increase awareness and opportunity for gamers, we hosted the inaugural Legion Cup in 2019, sponsoring local gaming teams and pushing the boundaries of female gamers in the region,” he said.
“All of this helps gamers share their experiences and make a lasting impression and thrive among their peers,” he added.
“In addition to this, we are the first brand in the region to launch an online Arabic-language community for gamers in the region. Legion Community is a platform that allows gamers to connect with like-minded players and share gaming experience and expertise,” Bsat added.
He explained that with the right technology, Saudi players can compete in global esports competitions and be open to professional opportunities.
The company aims to capitalize on all of the aforementioned areas by 2023 by maintaining its leading market share.
“Our aim is to deliver the latest and greatest innovations to all sectors of the Kingdom, while also supporting the digital transformation plans set out by the government,” added Bsat.
