UAE firm launches unique robot to fight fires in the region

[ad_1]

UAE-based FFBOTS, based in the Jebel Ali Industrial Zone, has launched the Middle East’s first locally-manufactured firefighting robot of its kind, featuring world-class technical specifications and operational capabilities.

Named Wabel, which means rain, the robot is a qualitative addition to the work of fire departments and firefighters in the UAE and the region, as it improves the safety of firefighters and supports them during firefighting operations, especially When in critical hard-to-reach areas or physically demanding tasks involving hazards that could compromise their safety.

“Since its inception, the company has been committed to locally manufacturing, designing and assembling robotics with a focus on attracting local and international capabilities and expertise, inspired by the vision and passion of its founding team. The desire for smart innovation is in line with the vision and direction of the UAE government,” said Mohammad Islam, roboticist and CEO of FFBOTS.

plans to expand globally

“The joint UAE-Saudi investment started in the UAE. We intend to go global, taking into account our wise UAE government directives that call for the maximum use of artificial intelligence to improve the quality of life and protect the environment. Through action on firefighting immediate response to protect life and property. This is especially the case in one of the fastest growing economies in the world, where large projects and factories, free zones, warehouses, high-rise residential buildings and other sensitive areas are dotted,” he added.

Islam said robots complement rather than cancel the role of civil defense by providing a qualitative complement to its efforts in fighting fires and protecting life and property, especially when fires involve high-risk situations, such as near oil and gas reservoirs and inaccessible areas. Highly flammable material.

He added: “We are keen to ensure that spare parts are locally available and maintained by our dedicated specialists in order to meet the needs of the local market with record speed and the highest international standards.”

Robot Specifications

Wabel has several high-level features. It can be deployed in hazardous and critical areas in case of any fire, thereby increasing the safety level of the facility and helping to protect people and property.

It helps controllers, especially at critical locations, use it remotely and start firefighting operations immediately, before civil defense personnel arrive, benefiting from a powerful flow of 8,000 LPM, a range of 100 meters and a height of 50 meters.

The robot helps civil defense personnel go deep into the fire and enhances firefighting capabilities, especially in dangerous situations such as potential explosions in ammunition depots, toxic chemical fires, nuclear reactors, high-temperature oil field fires, collapsed buildings and other dangerous situations, not to mention that it is assisting Specializes in the company’s role in resolving insurance claims.

wireless control

The robot is controlled wirelessly from a control station with a control range of 1,000 meters. It is equipped with 4 hose inlets and a GPS to build routes and maps for robot positioning and navigation convenience, which helps the controller make the most of its technological capabilities.

The robot uses foam and water at a flow rate of 8,000 LPM. It is equipped with six smart cameras covering four directions, making it the firefighter’s eyes at the center of the incident, allowing operational decisions to be made remotely without approaching the fire scene. The robot is also equipped with frontal sprinklers to cool surfaces in front of the robot, and vertical sprinklers to form water umbrellas to cool the robot from above.

The Wabel is expertly made and, due to its weight of about a ton, is able to climb stairs up to 30 degrees. It is equipped with a strong front bumper that allows it to collide with obstacles ahead, allowing it to quickly access fire sites.

dedicated camera

The robot is also equipped with a dedicated camera for the direction of the fire extinguisher target and a rear camera for easy mobility, in addition to an inbound audio channel that allows the controller to hear sounds around the robot; motors, batteries, electronics 15 temperature-sensing points such as robot body and external temperature.

The robot’s powerful headlights allow controllers to see through thick smoke, and its siren helps locate the robot while alerting others in areas of smoky or low visibility and alerting residents to fires. — trade arab news agency
