UAE flights: Exempt residents returning to Dubai from restricted countries must obtain GDRFA approval-News

These countries include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria and Uganda.

Certain types of Residents stranded in six countries can travel Fly to Dubai, the UAE Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed in the notice to the airline.

They need to obtain approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Aliens Affairs (GDRFA) before flying.

In the notice issued to airlines and private operators, the authorities stated that the airline will “ensure and/or verify” that passengers meet all requirements before boarding. Airlines must not “accept unqualified passengers”.

If the airline carries a passenger who does not meet the requirements, it will be responsible for “returning the passenger to the boarding place and any other matters arising therefrom.”

These countries include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Nigeria and Uganda.

Residents of the following categories will be allowed to fly to the UAE:

>> Hold a valid UAE resident visa, have obtained the required Covid-19 vaccination dose in the UAE, and complete it 14 days after the second vaccination. He/she must hold a vaccination card issued by a UAE medical institution, including the vaccine certificate provided in the UAE government medical institution’s smart application.

>> Medical staff/staff, including doctors, nurses and technicians, regardless of their vaccination status.

>> Staff/employees of the education department, including professors and teachers, regardless of their vaccination status.

>> Students currently studying in the UAE, regardless of their vaccination status.

>> A person with a valid visa, for humanitarian reasons and/or circumstances (ie family reunion), regardless of their vaccination status.

>> Employees/staff of local and federal government entities, regardless of their vaccination status.

>> People receiving treatment in the UAE, regardless of their vaccination status.

Travel procedures

Exempted passengers must:

>> Hold a valid negative Covid-19 test certificate issued within 48 hours from the date of sample collection. They must be issued by an approved health center using a QR code system.

>> A quick test before boarding.

>> Perform PCR testing after arriving in the UAE.

>> Passengers should submit their request through the website of the General Administration of Residency and Aliens Affairs to obtain the necessary approval: https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae/homepage.aspx

>> Hold a valid UAE resident visa, obtain the required vaccination dose in the UAE and complete the second vaccination 14 days after the second vaccination, the vaccination certificate/card should be submitted through the website of the General Administration of Residence and Foreign Affairs, via https:/ /smart.gdrfad.gov.ae/homepage.aspx

Air India Express has updated its website to provide these agreements for passengers travelling from India to the UAE.
