UAE food bank forms new partnership to prevent food waste, spoilage

DUBAI – Together with the Dubai World Government Summit, UAE food banks and regional food bank networks have signed a partnership agreement to protect food from waste and spoilage and strengthen their joint ties of cooperation in their respective areas of work.

The partnership was signed by Dr Moez Al Shahdi, Founder and Head of the Regional Food Bank Network and Manal Bin Yaarouf, Chairman of the UAE Food Bank Steering Committee, Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of UAE Food Bank and the UAE Government Media Office Chairman Saeed Mohammad Al Eter.

Al Hajri said: “UAE Food Bank is eager to strengthen its strategic partnerships with entities that support its areas of work. This is a continuation of the purpose for which it was established to consolidate the provision of food, collection of and the value of delivering food. This is to realize the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to establish values ​​of dedication and kindness in UAE society, and Handle the blessings of food wisely.”

He added: “The new partnership with the regional food bank network will support the operational processes of food banks in the UAE. It will also strengthen cooperation between them to ensure the application of health and safety standards for food preservation.”

Al Shahdi said: “We are delighted to sign this partnership with the UAE Food Bank, a pioneer in initiatives in the region and the world to collect leftover food, reduce waste and give it to those who deserve it, as I found The perfect partner to realize dreams in neighboring countries and the world.”

The parties seek joint cooperation in multiple areas, including learning best practices in the area of ​​supporting food bank work systems, and exchanging knowledge and experience in the areas of management and development of joint work.

The MOU also aims to provide support in the area of ​​training and qualification in surplus food storage and preservation operations relevant to the work of both parties, and to participate in local and regional forums, seminars and conferences relevant to their work, as well as joint marketing in various media channels of both parties promote.

The partnership agreement takes effect from the date of signing by both parties, and is valid for five years with automatic renewal.
