UAE Food Bank partners with Facebook, Carrefour to distribute 55,000 meals to blue-collar workers

Dubai: The UAE Food Bank, part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiative, has partnered with Meta’s Facebook platform to distribute some 720 food baskets, equivalent to 55,000 Meal. The food basket was generously provided by the Carrefour brand represented by Majid Al Futtaim.

The initiative is in line with the UAE Food Bank’s mission to encourage social responsibility among its partners and the community, while achieving the goals of managing surplus food, reducing waste and providing food to those in need within and outside the UAE. The initiative also aims to raise awareness of the food bank’s charitable and humanitarian work.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of UAE Food Bank, said: “The efforts of UAE Food Bank reflect the generosity of the UAE people and embody the principles of kindness, generosity, compassion and social solidarity. 300 food baskets

Some 300 food baskets containing various groceries were sent to the UAE Food Bank headquarters for distribution to blue-collar workers, while another 420 food baskets were delivered directly to their accommodation. The UAE Food Bank has launched various initiatives during Ramadan to provide quality food to those in need, promote efficient management of surplus food, and reduce food waste. These efforts aim to raise public awareness of the importance of reducing surpluses and achieving zero food waste.

The UAE Food Bank joins forces with food companies, kitchens, restaurants and hotels to distribute food daily through Iftar tents. These included the distribution of 3 million charity meals in coordination with the Emirates Red Crescent, hotels and iftar tents. The bank has also launched the ‘Your Harees on Us’ initiative, which aims to collect traditional Harees donations from large kitchens and distribute them to those in need during Ramadan.
