To mark International Women’s Day, Manchester City have announced the launch of the City Together campaign, now in its sixth year in a row, which aims to promote inclusion and women in football.
The “Same City, Same Passion” campaign will provide free footballs to help inspire young girls around the world to play football. Through the campaign, anyone can give away a free Puma football by nominating a football-loving girl on the Manchester City website.
Since 2018, the club has delivered over 6,000 footballs around the world as part of the campaign, with 315 young girls taking part in the City Together campaign from the UAE last year.
As part of last year’s campaign, the club hosted exclusive pop-up events at Expo 2020 Dubai and Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi featuring Karen Bardsley, Esme Morgan and Laura from the Manchester City Women’s first team Coombs’ visit, engaging fans and inspiring a new generation of women in the region to take up the sport.
