UAE: Future diplomats embark on ‘life-changing journey’ at academy in Abu Dhabi

“The UAE’s wise leadership believes in the importance of investing in the UAE’s future diplomats who will help enrich the nation towards a promising future. Their work will advance the UAE’s ten principles over the next 50 years, particularly the tenth It calls for peace, harmony, negotiation and dialogue to resolve diplomatic disputes,” Nusaybe told the new class.

“Diplomats are one of the pillars of a sustainable society, as they play a vital role in strengthening the state to advance its interests. You will therefore choose to embark on this exciting and rewarding journey for your National service – I am confident that you will be a diplomat who will proudly represent the UAE and abroad, while working to establish global peace and stability, which is a fundamental driver of our foreign policy,” he added.

Nickolay Mladenov, Director General of AGDA, said: “As a future diplomat, you have embarked on a critical and life-changing journey. The UAE is a country that plays a vital role in promoting regional and global peace and prosperity. A country that plays an important role and ranks among the top 10 most powerful countries in the world. So when it comes to the diplomats who represent it, the UAE only asks for the best. The road ahead can be challenging at times, but it’s certainly worth it Yes, because your success will open doors for you to join an elite lineup of diplomats representing the UAE on the international stage, while strengthening its bilateral ties and pursuing its foreign policy goals and national interests.”

During their academic studies, students will learn about a variety of important topics, including the history of global diplomacy, international relations theory and practice, international law, UAE foreign policy, history and government, and economics. Students will also gain skills in research methods, negotiation, diplomatic communication, etiquette and etiquette, and consular diplomacy and crisis management. In addition, students will complete compulsory modules in a third language of their choice, including Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish.

AGDA has also welcomed more than 35 new students to its Master of Arts in Global Affairs and Diplomatic Leadership programme, which is open to the UAE public for the first time. The programme is designed to consolidate students’ knowledge of global and regional issues, particularly related to the UAE, while enhancing their diplomatic leadership skills.

Next week, AGDA will welcome its second cohort of students for the MA in Humanitarian Action and Development. The program emphasizes developing practical skills and knowledge of key theoretical trends in humanitarian aid and development studies.

Since its inception, AGDA has provided the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with over 200 graduates who today perform various assignments for the UAE locally, regionally and around the world.
