UAE Golden Visa holders can now sponsor an unlimited number of domestic workers

The United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s new domestic worker law, which came into effect on Thursday, December 15, prohibits employers from hiring domestic workers unless they have permission from the government.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) said on Tuesday: “The new law stipulates that domestic workers cannot be recruited or temporarily hired unless they have the permission of the ministry.”

However, some residents are allowed to employ a domestic helper in their care, including those on golden visas.

UAE Golden Visa holders enjoy the benefit of sponsoring an “unlimited number of domestic helpers”.

These workers include maids, cooks, nannies and nannies, gardeners, domestic drivers, farm workers, private teachers, private nurses, personal trainers, personal assistants and bodyguards, among others.

According to the official UAE government portal, individuals and families with a monthly income of AED 25,000 from known legitimate sources can sponsor the aforementioned projects unlimited times.

Persons who are allowed to sponsor domestic helpers as per the UAE Cabinet

  • Patients with recognized health insurance, provided the monthly income of their family members exceeds AED 15,000.
  • He has senior professional titles such as consultants, judges and legal advisers in different professions.
