UAE has highest demand for ESG investment certificates in MENA

Middle East and North Africa (MENA) CFA AcademyEnvironmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Investment Certificate, with a particular interest in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The CFA Institue, an association of investment professionals, is currently reporting high interest in investing in ESG credentials in the MENA region, with 55% of educational program enrollments from the UAE.

The programme offers a globally recognised ESG investment management qualification. It provides participants with the technical knowledge and practical application skills to succeed in the fast-moving field of ESG investing.

“Our ESG investing credential provides financial industry professionals with the practical, theoretical and technical knowledge they and their organisations need to address today’s challenging issues,” commented Dana skyManaging Director, Middle East and North Africa, CFA Institute.

The program has attracted 25,800 registrations worldwide.

In the UAE, the topic of ESG is particularly relevant, as the country has made strides in recent years in making sustainability a key pillar of its economic diversification efforts.

The UAE Green Agenda 2015-2030 was announced as the overarching framework for green policy, and the UAE’s Net-Zero Emissions by 2050 Strategy promotes net-zero emissions by 2050.

this sees United Arab Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) Mandating that listed public joint stock companies publish an annual sustainability report to assess the long-term health and stability of the market.

PricewaterhouseCoopersA 2022 survey of Middle East CEOs confirms that 66% of respondents expect to increase investment in ESG and sustainability initiatives over the next three years.

With sustainable innovation becoming an imperative for businesses, Day adds that having a solid understanding of ESG investing is “increasingly becoming a competitive advantage”.

The program involves a self-paced course that requires approximately 130 hours of study time, culminating in a computer-based exam with 100 questions, either in a proctored testing center or via an online proctored test.

Fresh graduates will receive a certificate and digital badge.

“Understanding the impact of ESG is critical for organisations, now more than ever, and the first step in doing so is getting the right people with ESG expertise to help prepare businesses for ESG integration,” commented that taymur ali mirPartner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
