Localized influence of convective clouds to bring rain to UAE in summer, says weather official

Rainfall in the UAE will continue in June, in line with the usual trend, according to a senior official of the National Center of Meteorology (NCM).
Light to heavy rain fell across the UAE on Monday.
Summer rains in the UAE are not uncommon, the national forecaster said, as the country usually experiences monsoon low pressure from India.
The Twitter account of the UAE Storm Center shared a video depicting individuals driving in heavy rain and strong winds.
Dr Ahmed Habib of the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) explained to Khaleej Times: “We have been witnessing cloud cover in some parts of the country. But if we talk about the whole summer, we do get rain due to climate change. The eastern mountains will Affected. We have the possibility of convective clouds over the east, which could bring rain to us.
“The localized influence of convective clouds will bring us rain in the summer. That has been the general trend in June.”
Artificial rainfall
Meteorologists also say the rain-carrying capacity of these convective clouds is perfect for cloud seeding.
“The cloud seeding operation has proven to be effective due to the formation of convective clouds that induce more rainfall. If there is any convective cloud formation anywhere in the UAE, then we will definitely be doing cloud seeding operations,” added Dr Habib.
Cloud seeding is a method of artificially encouraging clouds to produce rainfall. It started in the United Arab Emirates in the late 1990s, and since then, missions have increased each year.
Cloud seeding involves flying an aircraft into clouds where tiny raindrops are present. Airplanes fire salt flares into clouds to intensify rain.
