Sudan, Palestine top the list

Of the 11 Arab countries that participated in the Arab Culture Guide Program Awards, the UAE received the Excellence in Museum and Cultural Guide Awards. Meanwhile, Sudan has won the competition for sustainable ideas.

Palestine was announced as the recipient of the Museum and Archaeological Site Award.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan attended the Arab Culture Guide 2022 Awards Ceremony in Qasr Al Watan, Abu Dhabi, over the weekend.

At the awards ceremony, the organisers of the awards ceremony announced that the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth, Heritage and Arts and Cultural Heritage came out on top in the Awards for Excellence in Museum and Cultural Guidance awarded to institutions and ministries. The Culture and Antiquities Authority of Bahrain and the Ministry of Museums and Antiquities took second place, while the Qatar Museums Authority came third.

The award was won by Chadia Khalafallah, Director of the Natural History Museum of Oman from the National Public Museum of Setif, Algeria, and Mariam Al Raeisi, Director of the Riyad Bakaroum from the Mukalla Museum, Algeria. Yemen.

The Sustainable Ideas and Projects Culture Guide competition award went to three people: Ezzedine Hajjaj from Sudan for a project to develop an interactive structure for an Arab museum; Layla Salih from Iraq and Sumaya Bejaoui from Tunisia for a mobile culture guide project on post-conflict culture Heritage Restoration Project – A Syrian cultural heritage project in partnership with the Baghdida Museum.

The Best Arabian Restorer award goes to an archaeological restorer specializing in architecture and movable objects: Eng. Faisal Farhan from Iraq.

In the Awards for Excellence in Museums and Cultural Directing (Museums and Archaeological Sites), the first recipient was the Archaeological Museum of Sebastia from Palestine. The Djerba Heritage Museum from Tunisia took the second place and the Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah Museum in Essaouira, Morocco, came third.

“History is our gateway to the future,” said Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth and Chair of the National Council for Education, Culture and Science, in her keynote speech at the awards ceremony.

Her statement echoed the words of the late founding leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who will forever be etched in the hearts of the UAE and the Arab people: “There is no one who has no past, no present and no future. “.
