ABU DHABI/NEW YORK, 10th June (Middle East and North Africa) – Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, UAE Minister of State, chaired the inaugural signature event of the UAE’s UN Security Council presidency in June on strengthening cooperation between the UN and the Arab Alliance to Promote Arab regional peace, security and stability.
“This activity builds on the UN Security Council presidential statement adopted in March 2022 during the UAE’s previous presidency,” Al Marar said.
“Our aim is to improve cooperation between the two organizations, overcome regional conflicts and divisions, and work for a future era of stability and prosperity.”
Al Marar added: “We expect that the United Nations, especially the Security Council, will continue to support and encourage these Arab initiatives and efforts to build a robust and balanced regional order, achieve stability and lay a solid foundation for the comprehensive development of the region”
He also suggested further cooperation between the two organizations in combating terrorism, preventing conflicts by promoting values ​​of tolerance and human fraternity, empowering and protecting women and girls, combating climate change, and other issues involving the entire Arab region, Emirates News Agency (WAM) said.
In addition, Al Marar said that the UAE will continue to play an active role during and after its tenure on the Council to support the work of the Council to reach decisions that help resolve Arab and international issues.
He pointed out that the positive results achieved by the Arab League and the United Nations in recent years are clear examples of progress made through joint cooperation.
Demonstrating its commitment to multilingualism, the UAE Mission to the United Nations provided an International Sign Language Interpreter (ISI) at the signature event as part of its commitment to ensuring accessibility during its presidency.
It also publishes an unofficial digital job program in Arabic and English on its website
