UAE holds talks with Iranian foreign minister

Cape Town: Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the “Friends of BRICS” meeting in Cape Town, South Africa. Mir Abdullahian.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah and the Iranian minister discussed ways to advance bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation between the two countries to achieve common interests and promote security, stability and prosperity in the region.

The two sides also exchanged views on topics of common concern such as the regional and international situation and the current regional situation.

Sheikh Abdullah stressed the UAE’s commitment to promoting active dialogue and fruitful cooperation with countries in the region. He stressed the importance of strengthening the principle of good-neighborliness and friendship to promote peace, stability, development and prosperity of the two peoples.

Talk to Lavrov

The UAE minister also met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Cape Town, where they discussed ways to strengthen the friendship and strategic partnership between the UAE and the Russian Federation. They also reviewed and exchanged views on a range of the latest regional and international developments. Agenda items for the “Friends of BRICS” meeting were also discussed during the meeting.

Sheikh Abdullah affirmed that the relations between the UAE and Russia are based on a solid foundation of mutual understanding and respect, as well as constructive cooperation. Bilateral relations have been developing rapidly, especially after the signing of a strategic partnership agreement in 2018.

Sheikh Abdullah added that the two countries are determined to elevate bilateral relations and cooperation to new heights in various fields to serve the common interests of the two peoples. He said that the UAE looks forward to strengthening cooperation with the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) to support multilateral actions to achieve community development, maintain international peace and security, and build a hopeful future for future generations.
