UAE industry leaders join global conversation on future of manufacturing

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, will deliver a recorded keynote address highlighting the UAE’s commitment to sustainable industrialization, strengthening UAE-US trade ties, and promoting cross-border cooperation and “Make It in the Emirates” campaign.

Omar Al Suwaidi, Deputy Minister of MoIAT, said: “GMIS America provides a platform to showcase the UAE’s extraordinary value proposition for international businesses and promising investment opportunities within the UAE’s industrial sector.”

“It is also an ideal activity to offer unprecedented incentives to local and foreign industrial investors, guaranteeing an enabling environment through advanced legislation and infrastructure to enable their products to enter regional and global markets.”

The UAE launched last year Operating 300 billion A strategy to position it as a global industrial hub by 2031. The 10-year comprehensive roadmap focuses on increasing the industrial sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP from AED133 billion in 2021 to AED300 billion ($81.68 billion) in 2031.

The strategy focuses on boosting production in 11 priority sectors, supporting the development of national industries, attracting foreign investment, modernizing legislation and ensuring dedicated financing for local industrial companies.

The country has also launched the “Make it in the Emirates” initiative aimed at change country Become a manufacturing powerhouse.

Abu Dhabi also announced in June that it will invest AED 10 billion in six industrial projects to more than double the size of Manufacturing in the Emirate AED 172 billion by 2031.

“It is committed to creating an attractive business environment for local and international investors, positioning the UAE as a leading global destination for future industries.”

GMIS is a joint UAE and UNIDO initiative to help shape the future of manufacturing by building bridges between manufacturers, governments, NGOs, innovators and investors.

GMIS America will be held in Pittsburgh from September 28-30, with keynotes, fireside chats and panel sessions to accelerate the simultaneous advancement of green and digital agendas.

The program agenda will discuss the application of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, such as artificial intelligence, edge computing, industrial Internet of Things and nanotechnology, to drive the global energy transition and industrialization, the statement said.

The event will also feature field trips to Pittsburgh’s advanced technology centers and industrial facilities to showcase the latest technology solutions and encourage cross-sector collaboration and investment opportunities.

Mr Al Suwaidi said it was hoped that the event would lead to more partnerships between the US and the UAE, “which will foster greater strategic and bilateral relations between the two countries”.
