A female influencer has a chance to win AED 100,000 in cash, a year of free luxury accommodation in a five-star hotel and a Mazda CX-30 car for a year as part of a competition aimed at changing the social media scene in the UAE.
The first-ever Mazda-powered influencer beauty pageant and talent contest will select a winner who can create engaging and meaningful content.
In this challenge, however, it’s not just beauty and likes. The goal of the organizers is to train contestants to dig deeper and tell compelling stories about salient issues around the world.
“We don’t want people to just post their expensive bags or dinners,” says Miss Influencer founder Lilla Bolyki. “We want them to raise awareness about global issues like female empowerment, climate change, etc. We want the next generation of social media influencers to be more aware of what they do and the power they have.”

Out of 1,200 applicants, 50 were selected for the semi-finals based on likes and votes. These entrants will be assigned to certain brands and asked to create content. Based on the unique and true stories they can craft, 12 of them will make it to the finals and one of them will be crowned champion.
“We’ll be looking for the personality, message and values of the contestants,” said Coach Meddy, who is one of the competition’s judges. “We’re looking for someone who is very genuine. However, I don’t think there’s just one winner. Everyone involved is a winner in the experience they’ll have through this program.”
During the competition, participants will be trained not only on social media, but also on self-defense and physical activity. Eminent personalities will judge events from a variety of industries, including fashion, jewellery and events.

The semi-finalists came from a variety of backgrounds and catered to a wide following.
“I’m very pleased with the teams of contestants that made it to the semifinals,” Coach Meddy said. “They come from different nationalities and aptly represent Dubai’s mixed culture.”
For Spanish crew member Mariem Omar Boulayha, it was like a dream. “I’m looking forward to an amazing experience,” she said. The travel influencer was supported by her husband at the event. “I came to Dubai four years ago and I was lucky enough to meet my husband and work for an amazing company, and I am now. I really consider myself lucky.”

Friends Nidhi Kanda and Priyanka Chadha are delighted to have both reached the semi-finals. The two met in their hometown of Delhi and have remained friends. “We want one of us to win,” Neddy said. “We’ve been cheering each other on. However, we know the competition is fierce. There are some amazing content creators competing, but we know it’s going to be a great learning experience.”

Priyanka, who has been an influencer for five years, says she’s glad her work is getting attention. “I work with great brands and try to make sure my content is relevant to my followers. So, it felt like a nod to all the work I did to grow my social media pages.”
