His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, speaks by phone with the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky.

During the call, the two sides discussed cooperation between the two countries, as well as the development of the crisis in Ukraine and the importance of de-escalating tensions through dialogue and diplomatic solutions.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the UAE will do everything it can to prevent the crisis from worsening and help create an atmosphere conducive to de-escalation and negotiations for the benefit of all parties.

In addition, Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the Ukraine crisis has serious implications not only for Ukraine and Russia, but also for the rest of the world, posing a challenge to the global economy and international peace and security.

During the conference call, Sheikh Mohammed thanked President Zelensky for his confidence in the UAE’s efforts to mediate on humanitarian issues, food security and other issues.

He also stressed the UAE’s willingness to continue its efforts and support initiatives to mitigate the humanitarian and economic impact of the crisis.

Sheikh Mohamed and President Zelensky congratulated each other on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Ukraine, and expressed their wish that the relations between the two countries will continue to prosper, serve the common interests and meet the aspirations of the two peoples.

At Ground Zero, Moscow and Kyiv held one of the largest prisoner-of-war exchanges to date on Monday, swapping a total of 218 detainees, including 108 Ukrainian women, officials from both sides said.

Andriy Yermak, chief of staff to the Ukrainian president, said 12 civilians were among the women released.

“This is the first communication that is entirely female,” he wrote on the Telegram messaging app, adding that 37 of the 37 were killed after Russian troops seized the giant Azovstal steel plant in the port city of Mariupol in May. Women were arrested.
