The UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team showcased their skills at the Paris Open 2023 Grand Prix, picking up two gold medals and two bronze and silver medals on the first day of the three-day event.
The gold medal was won by Omar Alsuwaidi (56kg) and Khaled Alshehhi (62kg).
Organized by the International Jiu-Jitsu Federation under the auspices of Mubadala, the event began on April 22 and concluded in Paris on April 24, involving more than 250 male and female players from 22 countries.
The national team delegation consists of 21 veterans, young players and cutting-edge players, regardless of gender, most of whom have won championships in major events.
The players have been training hard, showing their skills and bringing glory to the UAE. Their recent stellar performances for their respective clubs during the Jiu-Jitsu Presidents Cup have given them the edge to perform well in the French capital.
Mubarak Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team performed well on the first day of the tournament, implementing a training program and winning on the mat.”‘
