Employers and potential employees will be helped by the new job exploration visas and amendments to allow longer grace periods for residents whose visas have expired, recruitment and human resources experts say.

They believe the Job Exploration visa will benefit candidates working in competitive occupations as they will be easily in the market to join immediately.

The UAE has announced a work exploration visa to attract young talents and skilled professionals to explore job opportunities in the country without the need for a sponsor or host.

It is awarded to those at the first or second or third skill level as specified by the Ministry of Human Resources and the UAE and recent graduates of the world’s 500 best universities with a minimum education level of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

The UAE has also amended a law to give residents a “flexible grace period of up to six months” to stay in the country if their residence permit is cancelled or expired. However, it is unclear whether this applies to all dwelling types.

Sarah Dixon, managing director for the Middle East at Hays, said the introduction of the new visas would make it easier for job seekers to enter the country to find work.

“We would like to see more expats come to the country and settle here while looking for work. There is an advantage to job seekers who are already settled ‘on the ground’ and can meet potential employers. And those who are currently abroad Compared to people here, they improve their chances of being interviewed and eventually hired, as it shows commitment to the UAE, and the employer is less ‘risky’; therefore, placing these candidates at the top of the CV stack for choice,” Dixon said.

salary, career development

Additionally, she added, job seekers will now have more freedom and flexibility to consider their options and make more informed decisions about their new career. They will have more time to consider factors such as salary, job expectations, job scope and career development to ensure suitable jobs and reduce the incidence of “job-hopping”.

Dixon added that eligible job seekers would benefit from the new visas, but candidates working in talent-rich or competitive industries could get a head start on applications from abroad/visitor’s pass holders by showing a commitment to relocation By.

Mayank Patel, Country Head of Adecco Middle East, a leading global HR solutions company, said the introduction of the Job Seeker Visa will make it easier for people to enter the country to find work.

“This will give job seekers extra time not only to prepare themselves, but also to seek additional support from employers’ options. This will ultimately help make the right decision and in stay in the organization longer,” he said.

6 months stay after visa cancellation

Patel added that amendments to the law allowing expats to stay for six months after their residence permit has been cancelled or expired will mainly help employees settle their dues and ultimately reduce hassle in the financial sector such as banks. “It will ultimately give employees peace of mind to end their jobs rather than rushing to take risks.”

Sarah Dixon added that extending the grace period for cancelled visas was definitely a positive, as it gave them enough time to find a new job. “This expansion also benefits the UAE in retaining talent with regional experience,” she added.
