ABU DHABI – The UAE is one of Kazakhstan’s main trading partners in the Middle East, with trade between the two countries reaching US$907 million in the past year, said Madyar Menelikov, Kazakhstan’s ambassador to the UAE.
The announcement was made during a ceremony on Kazakhstan’s National Day.
At the ceremony – attended by Minister of Community Development Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid – Menelikov said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations, UAE investments in Kazakhstan totalled about $2.7 billion.
He also noted that Kazakhstan invested more than $1 billion, and total direct investment from the UAE increased by 43 percent, or $243.4 million.
In his remarks delivered at this time, the ambassador highlighted the UAE leaders’ interest in strengthening relations between the two countries, noting that October 1 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Kazakhstan.
He highlighted the outstanding relationship that binds the two countries together.
Tourism is also a promising area for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UAE, as it is a global tourism hub, the ambassador said, noting that there are currently 40 direct weekly flights in both directions.
The ceremony was held at the St. Regis Abu Dhabi and was attended by several officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, members of the Arab and foreign diplomatic missions in the country, and members of the Kazakh community. nation.
