UAE-Korea business forum discusses economic cooperation, investment opportunities

Abu Dhabi, UAE: The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in partnership with the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), organized the UAE-Korea Business Forum, which was attended by His Excellency Yoon Hee-yeol, President of the Republic of South Sudan. During the forum, His Excellency encouraged UAE investors to benefit from South Korea’s investment opportunities and expertise in important sectors, affirming South Korea’s commitment to strengthen economic cooperation and partnership with its strategic partner in the Middle East, the UAE.

The forum was attended by His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy; His Excellency Ahmed Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of State; His Excellency Abdulla Mohamed Al Mazrui, Chairman of the UAE Chamber of Commerce and Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, and some board members of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce. The forum was also attended by HE Christopher Koo, Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA), as well as senior officials and private sector representatives from both sides, who discussed ways to strengthen trade relations and diversify economic cooperation between the UAE and South Korea.

His Excellency Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, said: “The UAE and South Korea have always enjoyed a warm and friendly relationship and the vibrancy of our relationship is reflected in the increase in trade volumes, investment flows and movement of people, professionals and entrepreneurs between the two countries. For example, in the first nine months of 2022, non-oil trade between the two countries increased by 20.4% compared to the same period in 2021, reaching nearly US$4 billion. From $450 million to $560 million in the first nine months of 2022 – an impressive 24% increase, while re-exports increased by 14%.”

“The Korea-UAE Business Forum is an excellent opportunity to discuss the strengthening of the existing economic partnership between the UAE and South Korea in the coming phase. The global economy is undergoing important changes and the UAE is accelerating its transformation to a new economic model,” he said. added.

In his opening remarks, His Excellency Abdulla Mohamed Al Mazrui, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, said: “The Forum provides a unique opportunity for public and private sector players to exchange experiences, explore opportunities for collaboration, and forge strategic partnerships in various areas of commonality. Benefit.”

His Excellency added: “The UAE and South Korea have a strong and strong relationship, which has helped to expand the cooperation and partnership between the two countries in various fields including political and economic relations. I would like to thank all the organizers, especially KITA at the A key role to play in showcasing investment opportunities, coordinating the development of existing partnerships, and paving the way for further cooperation. This is in support of both countries’ plans to shape a better future and in energy, infrastructure, biology, medicine, space, defense and We will play a key role in building on our unique achievements in various important economic sectors such as future technologies.”

Christopher Koo, Chairman of KITA’s Board of Directors, said: “South Korea is confident of becoming one of the UAE’s largest economic partners and we are very proud of the relationship we have established with it. For more than 40 years, South Korea and the UAE have built trust and cooperation on major projects, including Launch the Korea-UAE Private Economic Cooperation Council to promote the overall development of both countries.”

As part of the forum, the two sides signed 23 agreements to strengthen cooperation. The forum also included presentations by some officials from both countries on important investment opportunities in some key sectors as well as bilateral meetings.
