Discounts will be available at the retail chain’s 235 hypermarkets in the GCC region
To celebrate India’s Independence Day, UAE-based retail giant Lulu Group International has launched a three-day sale across 235 hypermarkets in the GCC region, featuring more than 10,000 Indian products.
Indian Ambassador to the UAE Sunjay Sudhir inaugurated “India Utsav” at the Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi.
“We are celebrating a huge ‘utsav’, the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. I am delighted that the Lulu Group’s ‘India Utsav’ is celebrating on this historic day. The festivals here are in sync with the country. Colourful, cultural performances , to celebrate our achievements and more.”
In addition, the Indian ambassadors to other GCC countries opened the festival at their respective Lulu hypermarkets.
Yusuffali MA, Chairman and Managing Director of Lulu Group International, said the celebrations are part of the Government of India’s “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiative.
“We are promoting the products of India, including the tastes and culture of the nationals and the large expat population living in the region. I sincerely believe that it is my duty and responsibility,” Yusuffali said.

Lulu Group is one of the largest importers in India and its products include fruits, vegetables, spices, meat, food, non-food items, all of which will be part of the three-day festival.
“India is an emerging economic superpower, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary foreign policy has led to closer ties between India and the GCC, and the UAE is emerging as one of India’s steadfast business partners. I firmly believe that the LuLu Group can Become a key player in India’s future vision,” Yusuffali emphasized.
Sudhir said Yusuffali is a successful example of an Indian national who “writes not only his own destiny but that of others” by creating jobs, supporting livelihoods and boosting economic activity.
“I am grateful to Lulu Group for consistently promoting India and Indian products through their hypermarkets. There is no doubt that initiatives such as this will greatly boost trade relations between India and the UAE,” the ambassador noted.
As part of “India Utsav”, Lulu Hypermarkets is running special promotions on over 10,000 Indian products, including food and non-food products.
“In addition to product promotion, India Utsav will showcase India’s rich cultural diversity through many programmes, competitions and celebrity visits during the event,” added V. Nandakumar, Marketing and Communications Director, Lulu Group.
