She said the money was sent to him through a bank transfer for six years
A young man who cheated her of Dh540,000 was told to repay the woman he promised to marry.
He assured her that the money would be used to build their marriage home, which was never built.
The Arab woman asked the man to repay the Dh540,000 he took from her, as well as the money he got from the sale of her luxury car, court documents said.
She also seeks Dh100,000 for material and moral damages.
In her lawsuit, the woman said she had a relationship with the man when he asked her to borrow some money for their nuptial home.
She said the money was sent to him by bank transfer over a period of six years.
The woman added that the man also took her luxury car and sold it, but never gave her the amount. She was told he would sell it for Dh652,962.
The defendant denies all charges and insists the case is dismissed.
Investigations by experts revealed that the accused sold the woman’s car for Dh360,000 without him handing over the cash to the plaintiff.
Further investigations also revealed that there was evidence that the woman paid Dh180,260 to the accused, whether by remittance or bank transfer.
After hearing the parties and based on the evidence, the Al Ain Court of First Instance ruled that the man paid the woman Dh540,000 in addition to another Dh40,000 in damages.
The man was also told to pay the woman’s legal costs.
