i24 News – The Crystal Night massacre was commemorated for the first time recently in the United Arab Emirates.
The Museum at the Crossroads of Civilizations in Dubai hosted a commemoration last week to mark the 84th anniversary of the 1938 Nazi attack on Jewish individuals and property, also known as “Night of Broken Glass”.
This is a monumental event in the post-Abraham agreement area, Another milestone in Israel-Arab relations. The 2020 Abraham Accords normalized relations between Israel and the UAE, as well as Bahrain and later Morocco and Sudan.
The commemoration is called “Let There Be Light”.

91-year-old Holocaust survivor Eve Coogler delivered the keynote speech. Her presentation was followed by a panel discussion on promoting a tolerant and inclusive society.
Eve was only 7 years old when the Nazis broke into her home during the Holocaust. The family’s property was looted and her father was taken to Buchenwald.
“History crystal night Needs to be called a horrible example of what happened to the Jews because by teaching this, that’s my hope and the Jewish hope…it will never happen again,” Coogler said.
“Just to provide knowledge and understanding, I think it’s a step in the right direction.”
