The ongoing Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) features two record-breaking installations – hidden in Hall 7, showcasing the world’s largest screwdriver, next to the world’s longest cartoon depicting Emirati businessman MA Yusuff’s Inspirational story Ali.

Both of these Guinness World Record holders were produced by Indian expat father-daughter duo M Dileef and Roshna M. “It feels great to be here,” said Roshna, 20, who broke her own world record. The longest cartoon comic strip, established in 2021, is her latest work. The new strip, called the Billion Dollar Journey, is 430m long, spans two wheels and can be read by a rotating handle.

On Sunday, MA Yusuff Ali, a prominent Indian businessman from Kerala, visited the stall and praised Roshan’s efforts.

Roshna’s father, M Dileef, an experienced record setter, said this was his third Guinness World Record. “Because of space constraints, I can only show the head of the screwdriver,” he said. The tool was completed in March and has a length of up to 6.6m. The artist recently got a golden visa in the UAE.

In 2021, Roshna teamed up with Global Village to set her first world record with a 404-meter-long cartoon tape. This year, she broke that record. According to the young man, who just graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, it took her eight months to make the tape, five of which were just for research.

“I have a team of six classmates,” she said. “We’ve decided to do something to leave our mark, and that’s the idea we came up with. They’ve helped me throughout the research process, and they’ve helped me with the cartoons.”

The graduate now dreams of a master’s degree in Europe and hopes to raise funds for her education through her artwork.
