Countries need to emulate the UAE model of tolerance and peaceful coexistence to consolidate security, stability and peace around the world, a senior UAE government official said at a defense conference in Abu Dhabi.

In his keynote speech at the opening of the International Defense Conference (IDC 2023) on Sunday, Mohammed bin Ahmed Albowardi, UAE Minister of State for Defense Affairs, invited countries around the world to reflect on the model of tolerance and peaceful coexistence offered by the UAE, as It embraces communities from all countries and cultures who live and work in peace and harmony in its lands.

“The country also seeks to build bridges of cooperation with countries around the world based on mutual respect,” he said.

“Despite more than 50 years of instability and turmoil surrounding the region, the UAE continues to face challenges effectively and never stops making progress and achievements as its leadership maintains security and peace in cooperation with its neighbors and the international community.”

The ADNEC Group organized the conference in partnership with the Ministry of Defense and in a strategic partnership with the Tawazun Council, which was attended by more than 1,800 leaders and key officials representing defense, security, academic and corporate entities around the world.

“Security provides our government with the opportunity to build productive cooperation between our two countries. It helps resolve conflict through dialogue and understanding, achieve global peace, and drive progress and prosperity,” he said.

Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee for IDEX and NAVDEX Exhibitions and International Defense Conferences, said: “The UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, is striving to achieve and world stability and human security. Our country is striving to be a pioneering example of overcoming challenges and achieving civilizational progress. We want to be an outstanding destination for peaceful coexistence.”

He added: “The International Defense Conference provides a strategic platform that brings together elite leaders and policymakers from around the world to exchange constructive views and ideas on global issues and propose appropriate solutions to achieve stability, peace and international security.”

The session included four panel discussions covering the social and economic impacts and risks of widespread adoption of new technologies, talent development and human capital management, and the impact of emerging technologies on modern operations and future warfare.
