A total of 14,777 workers in Abu Dhabi received Dh317 million in unpaid wages after the Labor Court stepped in. The payment is part of an order to expedite execution of a court judgment issued in 2022 in the case.
The latest figures released by the Abu Dhabi Labor Court on Monday showed that 8,560 workers were involved in collective enforcement and litigation cases worth a total of Dh125, while 6,217 workers were involved in individual enforcement cases worth a total of Dh192.
According to the judicial authority, in accordance with the provisions of the Labor Law and its related regulations, the timely conclusion of cases and the expedited execution of judgments have balanced and protected the rights of both parties to the contract, thereby improving the efficiency, flexibility and sustainability of the domestic labor market.
The Abu Dhabi Labor Court confirmed that it is paying special attention to quickly resolving labor cases and assisting in the payment of amounts owed to workers, as directed by Deputy Prime Minister His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Chairman of the Presidential Court and the Abu Dhabi Justice Department (ADJD) insisted on the importance of fast resolution of cases and shortened litigation timelines in order to achieve the Department’s main objective of achieving fair and accomplished justice.
Labor court officials commended the collaboration and integration between the strategic partners in providing services to help workers meet their vital needs during the transitional phase of ultimately resolving their situation, as well as the excellent efforts of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) to address the hopes for the UAE Conditions of workers working for other companies.
The Abu Dhabi Department of Justice has introduced new judicial initiatives over the past few years that facilitate the quick and easy resolution of labor disputes and payment of wages.
Authorities earlier said the measures included the establishment of a one-day court in Abu Dhabi in 2018 and a mobile court that visits workers’ residences to resolve their disputes with employers.

A special team from the Labor Tribunal and other officers from Mohre used the mobile court bus to travel to the workers’ residences.
Authorities say they always intervene when workers complain about not being paid for months.
The Labor Court team ensured that all workers’ pending wages were paid on the spot.
Officials liquidated the company’s bank guarantees to pay workers in cash and provide plane tickets for those who wished to return home.
According to judicial authorities, the UAE is keen to uphold and preserve the rights of workers and ensure their protection under the rule of law through a well-established judicial system.
